Nonprofit Formation

We offer nonprofit services depending on where you and your organization are in the process. This means that we can help with anything from reviewing all of your documents before you file them, to helping with specific documents, to drafting all of your documents for you. We ask all nonprofit clients to begin working with us by completing our nonprofit questionnaire which helps us assess where you are at and what you may need.

All nonprofits start at/must be formed at the state level. Some remain at the state level and some decide to file for federal exemption with the IRS (ie. becoming a 501c3, 4, 6, etc).

We think of these as two distinct phases. Service wise, they are:

  • ✤ Preparing and completion of documents, related consulting, and filing for the registration of a new domestic nonprofit corporation with the Secretary of State in the state that the client resides

    ✤ Filing Articles of Incorporation with the Secretary of State

    ✤ Preparing a standard set of nonprofit corporate bylaws

    ✤ Assisting with obtaining an Employment Identification Number (EIN) from the IRS for the newly formed domestic nonprofit corporation.

  • ✤ Filing paperwork to obtain tax-exempt recognition from the IRS

    All filings include one hour spent sitting online with client during the filing process.

    Fees vary based on whether we are reviewing and consulting on an IRS application that the client has already filled out or whether we are collecting that information and filling out an application from scratch.
